This week on Breaking Par with Bernard Sheridan Episode 159 is our interview with Game Like Training Team. They are changing the way coach's and players work together and touching ways to learn like never before in the world of golf learning. Here is just a taste of what Game Like training is about. At Game Like Training Golf we believe that whether a beginner, intermediate, advance, or professional Golf coach, we have the tools for you. Through curiosity and an obsession to learn, GLT has developed a deep understanding of key learning principles such as Motor Learning, Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Performance Psychology and the Neuro anatomical relationships that take place during the golf swing. It is extremely important to us that our resources provide a golf college, and university type experience. This is so players and coaches are exposed to the most current scientific literature. There are so many publications discussing research projects that it is almost impossible to keep up with. These publications are also written by academic professors who have not been out into the practical coaching environment. We dissect and transfer this complex information in to a practical coaching setting so that the masses can make sense, and apply it. Each day we strive to challenge the way things are in the coaching world by seeking expert advice, trialing new strategies, and conducting research on human performance. We are driven and committed to educating and inspiring the athletic world. Contact - https://www.gltgolf.com/

This week on Breaking Par with Bernard Sheridan we interview Monte Scheinblum the son of a Major League Baseball player, Monte aspired to follow in his father’s footsteps, until a major elbow injury and reconstruction at age fifteen forced him to give up baseball for golf. Monte’s early success in the game eventually led him to UCLA, where he played golf for the Bruins before turning professional. After an impressive career as a long drive champion and trick shot exhibitionist, Monte became a full-time professional tournament player, with the goal of eventually playing on the PGA Tour. He played on the Web.com (then Nike) tour for a number of years, and suffered through several close calls at the second stage of PGA Qualifying School. These disappointments led Monte on a quest to perfect his swing mechanics, enlisting many famous instructors and methods along the way. Monte’s quest for perfect swing mechanics failed to produce the results he wanted on tour, but it led to some critical realizations regarding the golf swing. After fifteen years as a full-time professional golfer, Monte began teaching to share what he learned and prevent others from making the mistakes he made. Today, Monte teaches golfers of all ability levels, from the earliest beginners to top juniors, college players and PGA Tour players, and has given more than 2,500 online lessons. He remains highly competitive in both long drive and tournament golf to this day. Monte's website - http://montescheinblum.com/ View Breaking Par website- http://www.breakingparpodcast.com

These principles have been refined over the years through applications and consultations with established touring pros, and a broad-base of amateurs – juniors to elite. Dr. Albaugh gives us some great information in this weeks interview on Breaking Par with Bernard Sheridan. He talksthe mental game and how you can get the most out on the course. Jason sedan of Fore Door Golf and Golf Channel Academy joins us for this weeks episode of Breaking Par with Bernard Sheridan. Jason is a young instructor with a lot of great ideas and is having great success with his students. here is a little bit more Jason. Jason is the Founder and Coaching Director for Fore Door Golf, a Golf Channel Academy location, based at the Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club adjacent to America's Oldest Resort Town. The summer months offer a schedule of game improvement events to reach all ages and abilities. Jason strives to take is personal coaching experiences to the game field. Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club's solitude offers not only world class conditions to improve your game but almost limitless opportunity to get on the course and work on your game where it matters most! During the winter months, Jason serves as Director of Instruction at the Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club in Vero Beach, FL. Jason's approach to coaching golf stems from a 4 step approach he calls the "Doors to Success". While many successful instructors have developed a methodology for the golf swing, not all students may be able to move in a way that suits the instructor's method and therefore the student is left with a severe misunderstanding of what will allow them to play their best golf. Jason is committed to a 4 spoke system of Assessment, Comprehension, Training, and Application. By teaching in fours, Jason is able to keep his instruction clear and memorable, allowing for the student to see instant as well as long lasting improvement. This personalized and thorough approach is unlike anything offered in today's market of coaching services and is guaranteed to help you achieve successes you never thought possible. Fore Door Golf begins with prioritizing the learning process. At a fundamental level, all golfers must learn what is required to gain 1) Contact 2) Direction 3) Distance & 4) Control of a golf shot. Along the way, there is room for many principles and preferences of how to achieve these parameters. Fore Door Golf encompasses an infinite amount of patterns to accomplish the goal of enjoying the game. Contact - http://jasonsedan.com/

This approach has made us popular with both amateurs and professionals. Our students love the personalized attention and programs created just for them. We create a partnership with our players and listen to their needs. This partnership allows us to help players improve their games more efficiently. We always start with an assessment of the players body type and movement characteristics, allowing us to start matching fundamentals such as grip, posture, swing plane and proper pivot. Our goal is to get the club back to impact in a position that allows the player to play their best. Contact - https://www.spencergolfacademy.com

This week our guest is Nick Tumminello fitness expert from Fort Lauderdale Florida. Nick is not a golfer but understands what it takes to train golfers to play their best. Here is a little bit about Nick. Nick’s hybrid approach to training allows him to leverage the tools, knowledge and skills of many disciplines and methods to help his clients and to educate other trainers how to deliver results. As early as his teenage years Nick knew that he wanted to be a trainer. His early influence came from his mother, growing up in a gym watching her prepare for bodybuilding competitions. She’ll tell you that “Nick grew up on iron and sweat.” As a way to connect Nick and his mother attended fitness events and conferences from the time he was 16 years old. Personal training is the only ‘real job’ nick’s ever known. But, his story isn’t common. Not being one to fall in line with the crowd Nick never attended college or got a degree. He graduated high school as an average student. He worked hard to accumulate a lot of on the job experience and despite his distaste for structured education Nick was very interested in learning. After being fired from his first two personal training jobs due to his independent thinking and lack of needing to ‘fit in’ he went off on his own to start a business. Training and fitness aren’t a hobby to Nick. This is a profession that he’s very passionate about. It would be easy to confuse Nick as a ‘science guy’ due to his ability to challenge thoughts and ideas, the way he respects the scientific process and critical thinking. However, he’s most excited by the application and end results that the information he learns and the ideas he creates can produce. “Studies and research are great, but if there is no practical application there is no need” Nick’s approach to many things can be described in three words… Hustle and Muscle. This is applied in training, business and intellectually for Nick. Training: Nick’s hybrid, mixed approach to training allows for the possibility that you can look great and perform great at the same time with a calculated and specific approach to training. This weeks guest has been playing in Pro events for 40 years and has been teaching for 25 years. He is the Director of Instruction at Lakewood Country Club He is here to share his journey in this wonderful game and give insight on his take on the golf swing. He has been a member of Golf Top 50 and Golf Digest Top 100. Here are a few words from Wayne on the awards above directly from his website. "In all the time I have spent as a teaching professional not one person has ever specifically observed my teaching in order to see if I were qualified for any list or award. All of these so-called “honors” are bestowed upon instructors for no real reason whatsoever other than reputation, political connectedness, or association with high profile players, either from the celebrity ranks or the PGA Tour. As far as I’m concerned, as soon as an instructor stops teaching beginners he or she ceases to be qualified for any honors or awards. And stop to consider exactly who it is that is bestowing the honor of being a “top” teacher: I’ll tell you who- magazine editors. If you had the experience of working with them to try to get a decent article printed with any sort of detail or information beyond a 5th grade level you would better understand the ludicrous nature of teacher lists. So, if you can’t trust the national magazines, how do you know if a teacher has anything to offer? I would say that you have to look at the students and their successes, but then we fall into the trap of focusing on high profile players. It is certainly a skill to help the already great to become better. " Wayne know that awards are not what makes a teacher great. It is their commitment to their craft and results. This weeks episode 123 of breaking Par with Bernard Sheridan celebrates St. Patricks day with our interview of Conn Connolly of Real Irish Golf. Some of the best golf in the world is in Ireland and Conn is a wonderful Host to arrange your entire trip. here is a little about Real Irish Golf. Real Irish Golf Is Our Passion; Real Irish Golf is a passion for what we know, understand and love; golfing on the natural links of Ireland. Having done our time in the Corporate world, it was time to stir the soul and engage our passions; a passion for golf, a passion for our authentic links and a passion for Ireland. Ireland and golf; it’s in our blood, it’s what we know and do. Be guided by locals as you spring along the rolling fairways of Ireland’s championship links. Created by nature and lightly sculpted by Irish Picassos, experience the hidden gems of world golf that have reared champions such as Rory, Padraig, Darren, Graeme and others before. Walk in their footsteps along paths less paved and let yourself go in the beauty, the air, the light, the challenge as you enjoy some of the world’s finest links with friends. Laugh at the madness of nailing a 5 iron 130 yards into a 30 mph wind, do a double-take as the caddie mutters “reload”, and feel slightly embarrassed as you putt over humps and hollows 20 yards from the green, but slightly superior when you hole it. Experience the inescapable warmth, the legendary ‘craic’ and the tales of the Irish as you travel across this ancient land. Drink in the magical scenery and sure, if the golf isn’t great, it will become better as the night wears on. Let Real Irish Golf be your Irish caddie and experience our passion and knowledge for Ireland and its golf links, as you enjoy the golf vacation of a lifetime. Rob’s training program is an accumulation of experience as a teacher, student and player competing against the best players in the world. Rob is a native of St. Louis, MO where he grew up at the same country club as 1968 Masters Champion Bob Goalby and touring professionals Jay and Jerry Haas and Frank Connor. At the age of six he began playing and was aided by a putting green his father installed in the backyard of their home. Steven Yellin is our guest from Fluid Motion Factor. A little bit about Steven Yellin. Steven Yellin began his athletic career playing tennis at the age of 12. He competed locally and nationally and won the Florida state high school singles championship in 1971 and was a member of the winning championship team. Recruited heavily, he chose the University of Pennsylvania where he was the number one player on the team. He was a member of the All-Ivy League tennis team in 1973 and had a win over John McEnroe in a dual match during his college career. As a senior at Penn, Yellin had an extraordinary Zone experience that radically changed his understanding of sports. It was an experience unlike anything he ever experienced on the court before. Though he played on a level never before attained, he realized that the factors that precipitated this experience was something that was not taught in any lesson he had ever taken (and he had taken quite a few!), and for that matter not taught in sports anywhere. For the next 35 years, he worked on developing a systematic program that allow athletes in every sport to set up the very subtle experience in their mind that allows for Zone experiences. Though he teaches something from a mental level, his program is not based on sports psychology, but rather on a crucial neurophysiological experience that has to occur in an athletes mind in order to play on an exceptionally high level. The inner feeling when athletes have this experience is that time slows down, the intellect becomes quiet and the motion becomes effortless. Yellin's program is not based on sports psychology because it does not involve emotions, beliefs, attitudes, self-confidence or any type of visualization. Though all these elements are crucial for the development of an athlete, these attributes develop naturally and holistically when they learn his program. This is one of the reasons why the program is so revolutionary and successful. Its uniqueness lies in although it is a mental program and is based on the mind, it does not fall under the rubric of sports psychology. Essentially, the program teaches a golfer how to systematically access the muscle memory they already have. Yellin's program takes the mystery out of that hit or miss affair and explains what needs to occur in order to play well. He considers himself a 'motion expert', a title that is opening up a new field in sports. A motion expert is someone that understands motion from the most fundamental level and teaches a program that allows someone to consistently repeat where motion originates. The reason for the lengthy time needed to develop Yellin's program is that when an athlete does go into the Zone, it is a very subtle experience. Athletes, for the most part, are not too sure why they slip into the Zone and hence they have a difficult time replicating it. It is a very subtle dance during a Zone experience and Yellin had to examine that experience from every conceivable angle in order to replicate it successfully and ensure it stays for an extended time.

Meet Eric Cogorno I love every single thing about coaching golfers of all levels! I was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley and I am excited about the pursuit to bring the best possible coaching to everyone in our area. I try to mix and match the art and science of golf to provide a simple message that is unique to each individual player. I believe in working on, improving and building skills in all areas. I think preparation is what separates mediocre from good, good from great and great from the best. There are so many different ways to accomplish your golf goals; picking and implementing the most efficient game plan is the key. I truly believe there is so much that golf can do for everyone on and off the course that I hope everyone takes advantage of it. Let's get to know each other and have some fun! Welcome to Breaking Par with Bernard Sheridan Episode 114 Joe Bosco Interview One of the most unique aspects of Joe’s instruction is his focus on the mental game. As Joe often says, the most important area for improvement in most people’s golf game is the “six inches between the ears.” Without a solid mental game plan, frustration from a bad shot or missed scoring opportunity can often ruin an entire round. Joe teaches students to develop a mental game plan to help them prepare for, play and accurately assess every round. This approach allows students to maintain a positive frame of mind and leads to peak performance on every shot. With Joe Bosco Golf, students embrace a hands-on, minds-on approach to golf. http://www.breakingparpodcast.com
